Scuotes is a daily quote puzzle from Lost Art Games. Each day it scrambles the letters of a well-known line from film, TV, sport or history, and you restore the quote using three context clues and a few letter hints, racing for the fewest moves and the fastest time.

About Scuotes

Scuotes takes a quote that shaped culture and hides it. The words keep their shape, but the letters are scrambled, and you put them right one guess at a time. Three context clues help: Who said it, When and Where. If you are stuck, you can spend up to three letter hints, each revealing one letter you have not found yet.

Every day has its own theme, so the week has a rhythm: Sports Sunday, Movie Monday, TV Tuesday, Wildcard Wednesday, Throwback Thursday with quotes over a hundred years old, Freaky Friday for horror and the spooky, and Satire Saturday for sharp wit and cultural commentary. Everyone gets the same quote each day. There is no points score; instead there are two daily leaderboards, one ranked by time and one by the fewest moves. A Give Up button shows the answer, but you get no ranking that day.

Scuotes is one of six dailies from Lost Art Games, along with Letterbox, D3C1PH3R, fanimoji, 29GO and alikely. It suits players who like cryptograms and quote puzzles and enjoy a nudge of trivia in the clues.

How to play Scuotes

  1. Open the day's Scuotes and read the theme and the Who, When and Where clues.
  2. Look at the scrambled quote and guess letters to put them in their right places.
  3. Use the word lengths, punctuation and the clues to recognise the quote.
  4. Spend up to three letter hints if you are stuck.
  5. Finish the quote and see where you rank by time and by moves.

Tips

  • Short words like A, I, THE and AND are the quickest way in.
  • Read the theme first: on Movie Monday the clue Who is often a film character.
  • Each move counts on the moves leaderboard, so think before guessing a letter.
