Deduce
Work out a hidden path and the rule that transformed it.
Every day: One numbered puzzle a day per grid size (Puzzle #640 on 2 October 2026), generated from the UTC date: a hidden path on the grid and a hidden rule that transforms it, the same for everyone. New puzzle: Midnight UTC.

Deduce is a daily logic puzzle from the makers of Seqle. A path of tiles is hidden on a grid, along with a rule that transforms it, such as a mirror, a rotation or a reversal. You trace guesses and read colour feedback against both the original and transformed path, then make one final answer naming the path and the rule.
About Deduce
Deduce sits next to Seqle on the same site and uses the same grid of labelled tiles (A1, A2 and so on). Each day a path is generated from the UTC date, together with one of seven rules: classic (unchanged), three kinds of mirror, a 90 or 180 degree rotation, or reversal. Everyone playing the same size gets the same path and rule, and the puzzle is numbered from the start of 2025.
You tap adjacent tiles to trace a guess of the right length and submit it. Each feedback row grades your guess against both the original path and the transformed path, colouring the tiles, and you have six guesses to gather clues. The game tells you when you have found the original path. Then you open Submit Answer and pick the original path plus the rule, with only one attempt.
The grid size can be changed from the difficulty menu, from 4x4 up to 8x8, and there are tips and a how-to-play guide. It suits players who like Wordle-style feedback but want a spatial deduction puzzle instead of words.
How to play Deduce
- Choose a difficulty (grid size) from the menu.
- Tap adjacent tiles to trace a path of the required length, then press Submit.
- Read the colours: each guess is graded against both the original and the transformed path.
- Use up to six guesses to pin down the hidden path and which rule changes it.
- Open Submit Answer and enter the original path and the rule; you get one attempt.
Tips
- Compare the two feedback grades: tiles that score on one path but not the other hint at the rule.
- Rotations and mirrors move tiles in predictable ways, so test guesses near the grid's edges and centre.
- A reversal keeps the same tiles in the opposite order, so watch position feedback rather than tile choice.
- Start on the 4x4 grid to learn the rules before trying the larger sizes.
Questions
Is it the same puzzle for everyone?
Yes. The path and rule are generated from the UTC date and grid size, so all players at that size share them.
How many guesses do I get?
Six feedback guesses, then one final answer.
What rules can transform the path?
Classic (unchanged), three mirrors, rotation by 90 or 180 degrees, and reversal.
