Induction is a daily deduction puzzle for iPhone and Android in the tradition of the classic Black Box game. Lodestones hide inside a grid you cannot see; you fire probes in from the edges and reason from hits, deflections, reflections and pass-throughs until you know where every one sits. The Daily Challenge is the same for everyone.
About Induction
Induction is set in a Victorian inventor's workshop and played on a sealed grid. Somewhere inside are a number of lodestones. You fire probes into the box from its edges and watch what happens. A beam that flies straight through has nothing in its path. A beam that never comes out has hit a lodestone directly. A beam that leaves somewhere unexpected has been deflected or reflected, and every such path is a clue to what lies nearby.
You mark your deductions on the grid and seal your answer when you are certain. Each puzzle has a par for the number of probes, a gauge shows how you are doing against it, and clean solves and streaks are tracked. Everything can be worked out by reasoning, with no luck, timers or move-matching.
The Daily Challenge is a new puzzle every day, the same for everyone, and its difficulty is labelled from Easy to Master. Beyond it are more than a thousand hand-tuned puzzles in notebook collections, from a gentle start to an expert codex, and a tutorial that teaches by demonstration.
Induction is made by Connexus Digital, the makers of Connexus Puzzles, and came out in August 2026. It plays fully offline with no account; signing in with Google or Apple backs up and syncs progress. It is free and supported by ads, with rewarded ads always optional and no energy systems or pay-to-win.
How to play Induction
- Open the Daily Challenge.
- Tap an edge slot to fire a probe into the hidden grid.
- Read the result: through, absorbed (a direct hit), deflected or reflected.
- Mark cells where you have deduced a lodestone must be.
- When every lodestone is marked, seal your answer and compare your probe count with par.

Tips
- Fire through the middle rows and columns first; a straight pass-through clears a whole line.
- A probe absorbed at once means a lodestone sits directly in its path.
- Treat every bend in a probe path as evidence: work out which hidden spots could have turned it, and test the likeliest one next.
- Fewer probes means a better score, so think before each shot once the first clues are in.
