Conexões Splash is UOL's daily entertainment version of the Connections format, in Portuguese. Sixteen names, titles and facts hide four groups of four, each linked to one film, TV series, character or celebrity.

About Conexões Splash (UOL)

Conexões Splash belongs to UOL Jogos and is named after Splash, UOL's entertainment and celebrity section; it has a sports twin called Conexões Esporte. UOL describes it as a game in the style of Conexo, and the board for each date comes from UOL's servers, so everyone sees the same clues.

The groups are built around a subject rather than a word category. On one recent day the board mixed facts about Natalie Portman (born 1981, Israeli, Oscar, starred in Black Swan) with clues for the series The Leftovers, the cartoon Ben 10 and the film Captain Marvel. Another day asked for actors who played Superman and films with Jennifer Lawrence. You pick four items and submit, with four lives to spend on wrong guesses.

Each group is worth 250 points, up to 1000 a day, and each group comes with a hint that costs points to reveal, starting at 50. Hollywood and Brazilian film and TV sit side by side, so it suits Portuguese speakers who keep up with films, series and celebrity news.

How to play Conexões Splash (UOL)

  1. Read the sixteen clues on the board.
  2. Select four that refer to the same film, series, character or celebrity and press submit.
  3. A correct set becomes a group; a wrong set costs one of your four lives.
  4. Find all four groups to score up to 1000 points, using hints sparingly since they cost points.

Tips

  • Cast lists are a common theme, so look for several actors who could share a film.
  • Birth years, nationalities and award names usually belong to a person rather than a title.
  • Leave the group you are least sure of until last, when only four clues remain.
