Conexões Esporte is UOL's daily sports version of the Connections format, in Portuguese. Sixteen words and phrases hide four groups of four, and each group points to the same athlete, coach, team or sporting event.

About Conexões Esporte (UOL)

Conexões Esporte is part of UOL Jogos, the games section of Brazilian portal UOL, which also runs an entertainment edition called Conexões Splash. UOL describes it as a game in the style of Conexo. The day's board is loaded from UOL's servers by date, so everyone gets the same sixteen clues.

Unlike word-category puzzles, the groups here are built around a subject. On one recent day the four groups were about Kylian Mbappé (França, Kylian, Camisa 10, Joga com Vini), Louis van Gaal, Santos's 2010 Copa do Brasil team and the Flamengo goalkeeper Agustín Rossi. You select four items and submit; you start with four lives and each wrong guess costs one.

Each group found is worth 250 points, for a maximum of 1000. Every group has a hint, but asking for one costs points, starting at 50 for the first. The mix of Brazilian and international names makes it best suited to Portuguese-speaking fans who follow the game closely.

How to play Conexões Esporte (UOL)

  1. Read the sixteen clues on the board.
  2. Select four that refer to the same athlete, coach, team, sport or event and press submit.
  3. A correct set is locked in as a group; a wrong set costs one of your four lives.
  4. Find all four groups to score up to 1000 points, using hints only if needed since they cost points.

Tips

  • Look for first names, nationalities and shirt numbers: they often belong to the same player.
  • Some clues fit more than one subject, so start with the group you are most sure of.
  • Save hints for the last group, since the first one already costs 50 points.
