DailyFoot national teams grid share image

DailyFoot is a daily football grid made by Eliott Gandiolle, the maker of DailyGeo. Each cell has a row clue and a column clue, and you name an international player who satisfies both, using each player once; three mistakes end the day. The General edition mixes players from every national team pool, and eleven other editions focus on single national teams or the 2026 World Cup.

About DailyFoot

DailyFoot is a football take on the immaculate grid format, built by one independent developer in Paris, Eliott Gandiolle, who also makes DailyGeo. Every day each edition publishes one 3x3 grid for everybody: three clues along the rows, three down the columns. A cell needs an international footballer who meets both of its clues, such as a club, a trophy, a number of caps or a decade, and each player can only be used once. Three mistakes end your day.

Scoring rewards rare answers. A cell is worth 100 points minus the share of players who picked the same name, so an obvious star pays little and a deep cut pays almost everything; a perfect grid is 900. Because everyone gets the same grid, the scores are comparable.

There are twelve editions in all: ten national teams, a 2026 World Cup edition, and the General edition, which mixes every pool. The site works in seven interface languages, with French and English pages. Player data is assembled from Wikidata, Wikipedia and an open Transfermarkt dataset, checked by hand, and each grid is verified at build time to have at least one full solution with nine different players. The last 180 days each keep their own page in the archive, and the site also has player and stat rankings.

DailyFoot is free with no account, sign-up or download. It currently shows no advertising and is funded by voluntary donations; the maker has said ads may be added later to cover hosting.

How to play DailyFoot

  1. Open today's grid in the General edition or pick a national team or World Cup edition.
  2. Choose a cell and read its row clue and column clue.
  3. Name an international player who meets both clues; each player can be used once.
  4. Fill all nine cells before you make three mistakes, then compare your score.
  5. Go back to earlier grids from the archive if you missed a day.

Tips

  • Go for less obvious answers when you can: a name few others picked scores close to 100.
  • Fill the hardest cells first, while you still have all your mistakes and all your players.
  • Keep the big names in reserve; a star who fits several cells is best saved for the cell only he fits.
  • Try the edition for the national team you know best before the General grid.
