Capital Control
Fill a 3 by 3 grid with world capitals that fit each row and column.
Every day: One 3 by 3 grid a day, the same for everyone: fill each square with a world capital that fits both its row and column clue, with five mistakes allowed. New puzzle: Midnight Central European time (the game uses the date in Europe/Paris).

Capital Control is a daily grid game for world capitals. Each square sits under a row clue and a column clue, such as population, flag colours or membership of a group, and you fill it with a capital that fits both. Each capital can be used once, and five wrong guesses end the game.
About Capital Control
Capital Control is an immaculate-grid style puzzle built on capital cities. Each day's grid has three row clues and three column clues, and every one of the nine squares needs a capital that satisfies both. Clues draw on country and capital population, GDP per capita, flag colours and membership of groups such as the EU, the African Union, NATO, the Commonwealth, the OECD, the G20 and the Arab League.
You type a capital or a country, pick from the list and place it. A wrong answer costs one of five mistakes, and each capital can be used only once. When the grid is complete or your mistakes run out, you can see all the possible answers, explore your result and share it. A hard mode hides country names from the search so you must know the capital itself.
The game covers the 193 UN member states plus the Holy See and Palestine, and it lists its data sources. It also offers an optional daily email with one capital and a fact about it. It suits players of GeoGrid and Immaculate Grid who want the grid format with capitals.
How to play Capital Control
- Open capitalcontrolgame.com to load today's grid.
- Pick a square and read its row and column clues.
- Type a capital (or a country, outside hard mode) and choose a capital that fits both clues.
- Avoid wrong answers: you have five mistakes.
- Fill all nine squares with different capitals, then share your result.
Tips
- Start with the square whose two clues are most restrictive; it has the fewest answers.
- Countries with several capitals count for each of them on country-based clues.
- Flag clues count small details such as emblems, so check the whole flag.
Questions
How many mistakes are allowed?
