Wordle in Portuguese: daily Portuguese word games

Portuguese speakers have many daily Wordles. Termo is a popular Brazilian one, with Dueto and Quarteto modes for two and four words at once; Letreco is another Brazilian original, and newspapers such as Folha de S.Paulo and UOL run their own. In Portugal, Palavra do Dia and the Observador's Abrapalavra use European Portuguese.

The games

In Brazil, start with Termo: one five-letter word a day in six tries, plus Dueto, two words in seven tries, and Quarteto, four words in nine. Letreco has published a numbered word every day since January 2022. Folha de S.Paulo's A Palavra gives a dated word of the day, and UOL's Palavra do Dia sets three related words a day that get harder as you go; both portals may ask readers to subscribe.

In Portugal, Palavra do Dia is a free European Portuguese Wordle with a five-letter and a six-letter version, and the Observador's Abrapalavra has a five-letter word a day with a countdown to the next.

For other formats, Conexo is a Connections-style game in Portuguese, Spanish and English, and UOL's Conexões boards sort sports and entertainment clues into groups. For crosswords, O Globo publishes a free 11 by 11 palavras cruzadas each day, Cruzadas Brasil has a free daily grid, and Público's daily crossword by Paulo Freixinho follows the news for subscribers.

To begin, play Termo in Brazil or Palavra do Dia in Portugal, since spelling and vocabulary differ between the two.
