Daily jigsaw puzzles to play online

A daily jigsaw gives everyone the same picture to piece together each day, usually with a choice of sizes and a timer. Art sites cut puzzles from famous paintings, newspapers turn their photos and front pages into jigsaws, and a few sites keep it to a minute or two.

The games

For a classic jigsaw with a choice of difficulty, Arkadium's Daily Jigsaw has a new picture every day in easy, normal or expert, played against the clock. SPC World cuts its daily puzzle from a public-domain painting, lets you pick one of three grid sizes, rotates the pieces for an extra challenge and ranks players by time.

If you want to learn something while you solve, Art Keeper hides a work from art history in each day's puzzle and tells you about the artist and the movement once it is complete, with past puzzles in an archive. Newspapers have their own versions: the Los Angeles Times cuts a 30-piece puzzle from a photo in its archive, and the New York Post turns that day's front cover into a jigsaw, with the past week in a date picker.

For a short break, Puzzlebeat cuts the day's featured photo into a quick 24-piece puzzle against the timer, and DailyJig pairs a 5x5 jigsaw with a memory game and a small logic grid, all new at the same time each evening. On Windows and Xbox, Microsoft Jigsaw adds a set of Daily Challenges in special modes, with monthly badges for finishing them.

Start with Arkadium or SPC World if you want a full-size puzzle, and with Puzzlebeat or DailyJig if you only have a few minutes.
