Letreco is an unofficial Brazilian version of Wordle by Gabriel Toschi. Every day a new five-letter Portuguese word appears for you to guess in six attempts, with coloured tiles telling you which letters are right.

About Letreco

Letreco is a daily word game in Brazilian Portuguese, made by Gabriel Toschi and described in its own credits as an unofficial Brazilian version of Wordle. Its word bank comes from VERO, the LibreOffice Portuguese spelling project. It has been running since January 2022, and each day's puzzle carries an edition number.

The daily word is fixed in advance for each calendar date, so everyone who plays on the same day gets the same word. You type five-letter guesses on the on-screen keyboard and each letter changes colour: green when it is in the right place, yellow when it is in the word but somewhere else, and red when it is not in the word at all. A colourblind mode swaps these colours.

After the round the game shows your statistics, win rate, streaks and the spread of your guesses, plus a countdown to the next letreco.

It suits Portuguese speakers and learners who want a short word puzzle once a day.

How to play Letreco

  1. Open Letreco in a browser; no account is needed.
  2. Type a five-letter Portuguese word and confirm it.
  3. Read the colours: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, red is not in the word.
  4. Use the clues to find the word within six tries, then check your stats and wait for the next one.

Tips

  • Start with a word rich in common Portuguese vowels such as A, E and O.
  • Accents are not typed, so think of the word without them.
  • Turn on colourblind mode in settings if red and green are hard to tell apart.
