WordSteps is a daily word ladder game. You start with one word and must reach a target word by changing exactly one letter at a time, each step a valid English word. There are three ladders a day, with three, four and five letters, and hints if you get stuck.
About WordSteps
WordSteps follows the classic word ladder puzzle. You see the start word at the top and the target word below. You change exactly one letter to make a new valid English word, then another, until you reach the target, as in the game's example COLD, CORD, CARD, WARD, WARM. Each challenge allows a set number of attempts, shown as a counter above the board.
Letters are coloured to help: one colour for a letter already in the right position for the target, another for a letter that is in the target somewhere else, and grey for a letter not in it. A Hints panel offers words you could play next; click one to insert it.
Every day brings three challenges: Easy with 3-letter words, Classic with 4-letter words and Hard with 5-letter words, and the page shows what share of players solved each. Yesterday's puzzles can be viewed with their solutions, and statistics track your win rate, streak and how many moves you take. It is free in the browser.
