Every day: Three rounds a day: in each, reach a three-digit target from six given numbers in at most five sums before the timer runs out. After the third round you get a grade for the day. New puzzle: Once a day; the game does not say at what hour.

Uimhir is the Irish Independent's daily numbers game, in the style of the numbers round on Countdown. Each day has three rounds; in each you combine six numbers to get as close as you can to a target in five sums against a clock, and you are graded on the day as a whole.
About Uimhir (Irish Independent)
Uimhir (Irish for number) is one of the games the Irish Independent makes for its puzzles page. Each round shows a target, such as 546, and six numbers, for example 100, 50, 5, 4, 2 and 1. You build up to five sums with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and the result of a sum can be used again in a later one; each number can be used once.
A clock counts down in each round, and if you cannot reach the target exactly, the closest answer counts. When the time is up the game shows a solution. There are three rounds a day, and after the third you are graded on how close you came across all three.
The game keeps your days played, games played, answers correct and an overall grade, with a breakdown of how far off each answer was, and you can share the day's result. It suits anyone who enjoys the numbers game from Countdown and wants three quick rounds a day.

Tips
- Look for a large number times a small one that lands near the target, then adjust with the rest.
- Each sum's result is reusable, so build a useful middle number early.
- If an exact answer is out of reach, settle on the closest one before time runs out: closeness is what is graded.
