Tightrope
Britannica's daily nine-question trivia walk: answer fast, and three wrong answers knock you off the rope.
Every day: Nine new multiple-choice trivia questions each day, one for each letter of TIGHTROPE, the same set for every player, with the difficulty rising through the week. New puzzle: Once a day; the start screen shows the date and weekday of the round.

Tightrope is Encyclopaedia Britannica's free daily trivia game. Each day there are nine multiple-choice questions on subjects such as history, science, the arts, animals and maths, and every right answer moves you along a high wire. Three wrong answers end the run, and quick answers score more.
About Tightrope
Tightrope is a browser trivia game from Encyclopaedia Britannica, launched in August 2024 with the line: nine questions, tread carefully. It sits among the daily games on Britannica's site.
Each day's round has nine questions, one for each letter of the word TIGHTROPE, mixing topics such as history, science, the arts, animals and mathematics. You pick from multiple-choice answers against a short timer, and each correct answer takes you a step further across the rope. A wrong answer costs a heart, and a third mistake ends the attempt.
Your score depends on getting answers right and answering quickly, and at the end you can share an emoji grid of ticks and misses under the TIGHTROPE letters with your total. Because everyone gets the same nine questions that day, scores are easy to compare with friends.
The questions get harder as a round goes on, and the rounds themselves get harder through the week: a bar on the start screen runs from easier to harder and marks where the day falls, so a Monday walk is gentler than a weekend one.
It suits trivia fans who want a few minutes of varied questions with a little tension, rather than a long quiz.

Tips
- Read the whole question: a date or place in it often rules out options.
- Eliminate clearly wrong answers first when you are unsure.
- Speed adds points, but a mistake costs more, so do not rush the hard ones.
