Tangram
Rate itFill the day's silhouette with the seven tangram pieces, against the clock.
Every day: One tangram silhouette a day, picked by the date from the site's shape library and the same for everyone, solved once against the clock and ranked on that day's board. New puzzle: Midnight in the player's own time zone.

Daily tangram gives everyone the same silhouette each day to fill with the seven classic tans. You drag, turn and flip the pieces until the shadow is covered, and your hints, time and moves place you on that day's board. A streak counts the days in a row you solve it.
About Tangram
Daily tangram is a free browser version of the old Chinese dissection puzzle: seven flat pieces, five triangles, a square and a parallelogram, that together fill a shape shown only as a grey shadow. The site at tangramfun.com sets one of these shadows as the day's puzzle, chosen by the date from its shape library, so everyone who plays on a given date gets the same figure.
A day's puzzle starts the clock as soon as the page opens. You drag pieces from the tray onto the shadow, tap one to turn it 45 degrees, and tap twice to flip the parallelogram. Keyboard keys do the same, and a progress bar shows how much of the shadow is covered. There is one attempt a day; pausing hides the board so the clock cannot be gamed, and closing the tab keeps your place.
Results are ranked first by hints used, then by time, then by moves, so a solve without hints always beats one with a hint. Each figure carries a difficulty label from easy to hard, worked out from how much piece edge is hidden inside the outline: a plain square, which looks simplest, is among the hardest.
A missed day cannot be made up for the ranking, though its shape stays in the library to play unranked. Beyond the daily, the All puzzles library is open at any time with three hints per shape, a tutorial walks through a first solve, and printable PDF sheets put the pieces and figures on paper. Progress is kept in the browser with no account needed, or in an optional account to carry it between devices. It suits anyone who likes calm spatial puzzles and a short timed challenge.
How to play Tangram
- Open the daily page; the shadow of today's figure and the clock appear together.
- Drag a piece from the tray onto the shadow where its shape fits.
- Tap a piece to turn it 45 degrees, or use the A and D keys; tap twice or press F to flip the parallelogram.
- Press Q to send a piece back to the tray, or R to reset the board.
- Keep placing pieces until the progress bar reaches 100 percent and the figure is covered.
- See where your hints, time and moves place you on today's board, then come back tomorrow to keep the streak.

Tips
- Look at the corners of the outline first: a 135 degree blunt corner can only be the parallelogram or two pieces meeting.
- Place the two large triangles early, since they leave the least freedom.
- Avoid hints if you care about rank: any solve without one beats every solve with one, however slow.
- Practise on the All puzzles library, which is unranked and gives three hints per shape.
Questions
When does the daily tangram change?
A new silhouette unlocks at midnight in your own time zone.
Do I need an account?
No. The daily plays without signing up, and your streak and archive are kept in the browser. An optional account keeps them across devices.
Can I play a day I missed?
Not for the ranking: a daily only counts on its own day. Its shape stays in the shape library, where you can play it unranked.
How is the board ranked?
By hints used first, then by time, then by moves to break a tie.
