Sudo Goose daily grid: a 9x9 sudoku with digits and goose symbols, a keypad of 1 to 8 plus a goose, timer and notes

Sudo Goose is Ponder Club's daily sudoku with a twist of theme: the ninth symbol is a goose instead of the number 9. Fill the 9x9 grid so every row, column and 3x3 box contains 1 to 8 and one goose. There is one shared puzzle a day, a dated archive and an endless Zen mode.

About Sudo Goose

Sudo Goose is a daily sudoku from Ponder Club, wrapped in the site's goose theme. Each day there is one puzzle, the same grid for every player.

The rules are classic sudoku: the 9x9 grid is divided into nine 3x3 boxes, and you enter the digits 1 to 8 and a goose (standing in for 9) so that each symbol appears once in every row, once in every column and once in every box. From the given starting numbers the rest can be deduced step by step.

Alongside the daily puzzle there is a dated archive of past days and a Zen mode offering endless grids in easy, medium and hard sizes. A colourblind mode is available, and Ponder Club says all of its games are free with no paywalls or subscriptions.

It suits sudoku players who want one shared daily grid plus unlimited extra puzzles when they want them.

How to play Sudo Goose

  1. Open the day's 9x9 grid with its starting symbols.
  2. Pick an empty cell and work out which symbol fits: a digit from 1 to 8 or the goose.
  3. Make sure it is not already in the same row, column or 3x3 box.
  4. Use notes for cells with several options.
  5. Fill the whole grid so every row, column and box has each symbol once.

Tips

  • Scan for rows, columns or boxes that are nearly complete and finish them first.
  • Pencil in candidates for tight cells to spot where a number can only go one place.
  • Use the given numbers across boxes to rule a digit out of a whole row or column.
