Stelline is a paid star battle puzzle app for iPhone and Android. You place one queen, or two stars, in every row, column and coloured region without any two touching. Besides unlimited boards made on the phone, its Compete mode gives everyone the same two boards each day, with daily leaderboards and an archive.
About Stelline
Stelline comes from Andelis Studio and arrived on the App Store in September 2026 and on Google Play on 2 October 2026. It is a one-time purchase with no ads, no account and no in-app purchases, and it plays offline.
The puzzles are star battle grids, the same family as LinkedIn's Queens. In 1-queen mode every row, column and region holds one queen, on boards from 6x6 to 11x11; in 2-star mode each holds two stars, on boards from 9x9 to 11x11. No two pieces may touch, not even at a corner. Every board is checked to have exactly one solution and graded Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert by a deduction engine that also drives the hints.
The daily part sits in Compete. Today's board is a 9x9 one-queen grid and a 10x10 two-star grid that every player gets on the same date, because the board is generated from a seed taken from the day rather than sent from a server. Daily leaderboards rank the solves, and a numbered archive keeps past boards. The maker notes that leaderboards are on iPhone only for now.
It also has Learn, a three-minute Tactics mode in which you tap where a queen must go, colour-blind patterns and a classic black-and-white look. It suits Queens players who want a harder board each day and hints that explain the reasoning rather than just the answer.
How to play Stelline
- Open Stelline and choose Compete to find Today's board.
- Pick the 9x9 one-queen board or the 10x10 two-star board.
- Tap a cell to cycle it through empty, dot and queen or star; drag to dot a whole run.
- Place one queen (or two stars) in every row, column and coloured region, with no two touching, even diagonally.
- Finish the board to post your time on the day's leaderboard.

Tips
- A placed queen dots its eight neighbours for you, so place the certain ones first.
- Look for small regions: a region squeezed into one row or column settles that line.
- Use Hint for the counts of misplaced queens and dots before asking it to show where.
