Spellify is EDHREC's daily guessing game for Magic: The Gathering players. You guess letters, numbers and symbols to uncover a hidden card's name and rules text, and have 13 tries to name the card.

About Spellify (EDHREC)

Spellify is one of the games on EDHREC, the well-known Commander deck-building site for Magic: The Gathering, which also runs quizzes and a crossword. Each day has a numbered Spellify puzzle with one hidden card, and there is a separate Hard Mode with its own daily card.

The card's name and text start out hidden, hangman style. You guess letters, numbers and symbols; each correct guess fills in more of the name and the rules text, which gives you more to go on. At any point you can try to name the whole card with Guess card.

You have 13 tries in total, and a guess at the card name counts as one of them. The game keeps streaks and history, and players who used the earlier version on Commander's Herald can import their old stats.

It suits Magic players who know their card pool well and enjoy recognising a card from a few words of its text.

Tips

  • Guess common letters first to open up the rules text, which is often the biggest clue.
  • Mana symbols and numbers can narrow down the card's colour and cost quickly.
  • Do not waste tries on early name guesses; each counts against your 13.
