Every day: One numbered puzzle a day, the same for everyone: five Old School RuneScape things, such as bosses, items, spells, quests or towns, to put in order by a stated measure like hitpoints, Grand Exchange price, level required, release date or map position. New puzzle: Midnight UTC.

SortScape puzzle #98: order five towns, Varrock, Sophanem, Draynor Village, Lumbridge and Rimmington, from furthest west to furthest east, with four attempt dots and Submit order

SortScape is a daily ordering puzzle on OSRS Puzzles, a fan site for Old School RuneScape. Each day it gives five things from the game and a measure to sort them by, such as boss hitpoints or Grand Exchange price. You drag them into order and submit; cards in the right place lock green, and you have four attempts to lock all five.

About SortScape (OSRS Puzzles)

SortScape is one of the games on OSRS Puzzles, a fan site of daily puzzles about Old School RuneScape. Its idea is simple: every day there is one numbered puzzle, the same for every player, that names five things from the game and asks you to put them in order.

The measure changes from day to day. Past puzzles in the archive ask you to order bosses by hitpoints or by Slayer XP per kill, weapons by Strength bonus or attack speed, items by Grand Exchange price, buy limit, daily trade volume or High Alchemy value, spells by the Magic level they need, potions by Herblore level, quests by the quest points they give, and towns from furthest west to furthest east or north to south. Some days ask for release order, newest to oldest, of quests, bosses or activities. Each card shows the thing's name and its icon from the game, and labels at the top and bottom of the list say which end is which.

The five cards start shuffled, with none in its correct place. You drag a card to move it, or tap one card and then another to swap them, and press Submit order. Every card in the right position turns green and locks, so it cannot be moved again, and the rest stay free for the next try. Four dots under the list count your attempts. If the list is not fully locked after four submissions, the puzzle shows the correct order.

When you finish, the result panel shows how the community did that day as a bar chart of how many attempts players needed, and you can copy a result in the form SortScape #98 3/4 with a grid of your tries. Your own stats and guess distribution are kept in the browser, with no account. An archive lists every past puzzle back to number 1 for playing later, and a countdown shows the time to the next one.

The site lists other Old School RuneScape games beside SortScape, such as Connections, Higher / Lower, Wiki Race and Gielionaire, under its Browse games menu. It is an independent fan project with no link to Jagex.

How to play SortScape (OSRS Puzzles)

  1. Open osrspuzzles.com/sortscape and press Play today's puzzle.
  2. Read the prompt and the labels at the top and bottom of the list, for example Furthest west and Furthest east.
  3. Drag the five cards into order, or tap two cards to swap them.
  4. Press Submit order: cards in the right position turn green and lock.
  5. Rearrange the cards that are still free and submit again; you have four attempts to lock all five.

Tips

  • Place the two ends first: the most extreme thing at each end is usually the easiest to be sure of.
  • Locked cards cannot move, so after each submission only reorder the free ones among the free slots.
  • No card starts in its correct place, so the starting order itself tells you where each card is not.
  • For price and alchemy days, think of what the items are made of; for map days, picture the world map from left to right or top to bottom.
  • Missed a day? The archive keeps every past puzzle.
