Runedle is a daily guessing game for Old School RuneScape players. You name any NPC, from Ali the Kebab seller to the Alchemical Hydra, and each guess is compared with the hidden one on gender, race, region, combat level, release date and name until you find the day's character.

About Runedle

Runedle takes the attribute-guessing format of games like Loldle and applies it to the cast of Old School RuneScape. Each day, at midnight UTC, it picks one NPC for everyone. You type a name, choose it from the list, and a row of tiles shows how your guess compares on gender, race, region, combat level and release date: green for a match, yellow for a partial match such as a shared race, and arrows telling you whether the combat level and release date should be higher or lower.

Regions run across Gielinor, from Misthalin and the Fremennik Province to Great Kourend, Fossil Island and the Kebos Lowlands, and the NPC list covers shopkeepers, quest characters, bosses and ordinary monsters. A separate Expert Mode plays the same way and marks your shared result as expert. After fifteen guesses a button lets you give up and see the answer.

A second daily mode, Runes, shows the rune cost of a spell and asks you to name it; more hints appear after every three guesses, starting with the spell type, then its spellbook, then the level needed. Results share as coloured squares, and there are colour-blind and arrow settings.

It suits OSRS players who know their NPCs and spellbooks.

How to play Runedle

  1. Open Runedle and type the name of any Old School RuneScape NPC.
  2. Read the tiles: green matches the hidden NPC, yellow is a partial match, red is wrong.
  3. Follow the arrows on combat level and release date up or down.
  4. Keep guessing until the name tile turns green.
  5. Try the Runes mode to name the day's spell from its rune cost.

Tips

  • Open with a well-known NPC from a big region to narrow gender, race and area at once.
  • Combat level and release date arrows halve the field quickly; use them before guessing specific names.
  • In Runes, the rune mix often gives away the spellbook before the hint does.
