About Shikaku Puzzles Daily
Shikaku is a Japanese logic puzzle published by Nikoli: divide the grid into rectangles so that every rectangle holds exactly one number and that number equals its area. A 6 covers six cells, as a strip or a 2 by 3 block, and the board is solved when every cell sits in exactly one rectangle.
The Daily page posts one board a day, numbered and dated, such as Shikaku #64 on October 5, 2026. Above it the site lists the last two weeks, each a click away, and the full archive keeps every earlier day. The board counts how many rectangles of the total you have placed, runs a timer, offers undo, redo and reset, and saves your progress as you go. Puzzles are generated and checked by a solver to have one solution, and graded by the techniques a person needs.
Beside the daily there are more than 600 puzzles from 5 by 5 to 20 by 20 and a guide to named solving techniques. The site belongs to Coffee Break Games, a studio hub of daily puzzles, and needs no sign-up. It suits newcomers to Shikaku, since the daily boards can be small, and anyone who wants an archive to work back through.

Tips
- A 1 is a finished one-cell rectangle; place those first.
- Primes can only be thin strips, and clues against a wall can only grow inward.
- When two big clues compete for the same corridor, work out what each must leave the other.
