Saltong
A daily Filipino word to guess in six tries, with shorter and longer sister puzzles.
Every day: One Filipino 5-letter word per day, the same for every player, with a countdown on the hub to the next word; Saltong Mini (4 letters) and Saltong Max (7 letters) also change daily. New puzzle: Once a day (countdown shown on the hub).

Saltong is a Wordle-style game in Filipino: you have six tries to find the day's five-letter word, with coloured tiles telling you which letters are right. It is the main game of Saltong Hub, which also has a 4-letter Mini, a 7-letter Max and a Spelling Bee-style Hex.
About Saltong
Saltong takes the familiar guess-the-word format and moves it into Filipino. Each day there is one hidden five-letter word, and everyone who plays that day is chasing the same word. The name blends salita (word) and bugtong (riddle).
It was made by software engineer Carl de Guia in January 2022 and spread quickly through Filipino social media. It now sits inside Saltong Hub, alongside Saltong Mini, Saltong Max, Hex (inspired by Spelling Bee), a sudoku and a number game called Mathinik. Words come from pinoydictionary.com and community contributions.
A round works like Wordle: type a valid Filipino word, then read the tiles. A letter in the right place, in the word but misplaced, or not in the word at all each gets its own colour. You narrow it down over six guesses, then share the grid without giving away the answer.
It suits Filipino speakers who want a quick daily word game in their own language, and learners who want a short, repeatable vocabulary workout. Mini and Max give you an easier and a harder puzzle on the same day.
How to play Saltong
- Open Saltong and type a five-letter Filipino word.
- Press enter to check it against the day's hidden word.
- Read the tile colours to see which letters are placed right, misplaced or absent.
- Use what you learned to make your next guess, up to six tries.
- Share your result grid or move on to Saltong Mini and Max.
Tips
- Start with a word that uses common Filipino vowels like A, I and O.
- Remember that Filipino spelling uses NG as letters in many words, so try words with it when you are stuck.
- Play Mini first as a warm-up before the main word.
