Kordle (꼬들)

Korean Wordle: guess the day's word spelled out as six consonants and vowels, in six tries.

Every day: One Korean word a day, written out as six separate jamo (consonants and vowels), to be guessed in six tries; it changes at midnight. New puzzle: Midnight (Korean time).

Kordle (꼬들) is a Korean take on Wordle. The day's word is written out letter by letter as six jamo, the consonants and vowels that make up Hangul syllables, and you have six tries to find it with green, yellow and grey feedback.

About Kordle (꼬들)

Kordle, written 꼬들 in Korean, adapts Wordle to Hangul. Korean letters are built into syllable blocks, so instead of guessing whole syllables you type the word disassembled into its six individual jamo, the basic consonants and vowels, using an on-screen Korean keyboard.

After each guess the six boxes change colour as in Wordle: green when a jamo is in the right place, yellow when it is in the word but in a different place, and grey when it is not in the word. You have six tries to find the word, and the page's own example walks through a consonant in the right spot and a vowel in the wrong one.

The answer changes once a day at midnight, so everyone plays the same word that day, and a stats panel tracks your results. The game is free, runs in the browser and needs no account.

It suits Korean speakers and learners who enjoy Wordle and want to think about how Hangul syllables break down into their parts.

How to play Kordle (꼬들)

  1. Open Kordle; the board has six columns and six rows.
  2. Type a Korean word disassembled into six jamo using the on-screen keyboard.
  3. Press 입력 (enter) to submit the guess.
  4. Read the colours: green is the right jamo in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, grey is not in the word.
  5. Find the word within six tries.

Tips

  • Remember that double consonants and compound vowels are split into separate jamo.
  • Start with a guess that mixes common consonants like ㅇ, ㄴ and ㄱ with common vowels like ㅏ and ㅣ.
  • Use the keyboard colours to rule out jamo for later guesses.
