RONIN (roninpuzzles.com)
Rate itSlip a ronin through the day's walled castle and past its guards to rescue the Emperor, in as few moves as you can.
Every day: One castle a day for everyone, numbered from RONIN #1 on 4 July 2026 and generated from the date: guide the ronin through three walled rings and past the guards to the Emperor in as few moves as possible, against a par, in easy and hard modes. New puzzle: Midnight, local time; a countdown shows the time to the next castle..

RONIN is a daily turn-based rescue puzzle. Each day's castle has three walled rings, stair gates and a set of guards that close in after every move, and you must bring the ronin from the corner to the Emperor at the centre. You get three attempts, and your result is your move count against the par of the best route. It is a different game from the Ronin sudoku with chess pieces at andrewt.net.
About RONIN (roninpuzzles.com)
RONIN, at roninpuzzles.com, builds one castle a day from the date, so every player gets the same board. The castle is a square of three walled rings with the Emperor held in a tower at the centre. Your red ronin starts in the outer corner, and dark guards stand around the rings.
On your turn you tap a marked cell to plan a move and tap again to take it. In easy mode the ronin moves up to three cells a turn, straight or diagonal; hard mode allows two. Walls can only be crossed at stair gates, by stepping onto the gate itself. You can also hold in place. Planning a move shows how the guards will answer: after each of your turns two guards step towards you, and if one reaches you, you are captured. When the ronin reaches the tower you ascend to free the Emperor.
Each castle comes with a par, the move count of the solver's best route. You get three attempts a day, and the castle resets with the guards back at their posts after a capture. One hint per castle, a lantern, marks the best next move from where you stand, and using it adds a lantern to your shared result. If you fail, the game shows the way in.
Your result is your move count against par, matching it counts as perfect, and the share text shows your attempts. Easy and hard results and streaks are kept separately, and a practice link gives random castles any time.

Tips
- Always plan before moving: the preview shows where the guards will step, and they react the same way every time.
- Hold keeps the ronin where it is for a turn; use the preview to check whether waiting puts it in a guard's reach before you commit.
- Find the stair gates of all three rings first and work out the route backwards from the tower.
- Save the lantern hint for the last attempt, since it marks your share result.
