A frontal chest X-ray from a Radiordle puzzle

Radiordle is a daily radiology puzzle. Each day there is one numbered case, a medical image such as a chest X-ray or a CT scan, and you have five guesses to name the diagnosis, picked from a list. Close guesses are flagged, and after the game you can read about the condition. Past puzzles are in an archive.

About Radiordle

Radiordle asks one question a day: what's the diagnosis? The puzzle is a single medical image, shown in a viewer styled like a radiology workstation. It might be a plain chest X-ray or a slice from a CT scan. You can click the image to zoom in on the detail.

You answer by choosing a diagnosis from the game's list, so spelling does not matter, and you have five guesses. You cannot pick the same diagnosis twice. If a wrong guess is near the answer, the game tells you that you are close and on the right track. When the puzzle is over you can open a short note about the condition, which is where the game earns its educational side.

The game keeps your statistics and a guess distribution, and shows how all players did on each puzzle. The archive lets you play any past puzzle by its day number; archive games are not counted in your statistics. Before your first game you are asked to accept a notice.

The site pitches it as a test of your medical imaging knowledge, so it helps to know your way around a scan, but the list of answers and the close-guess hints give newcomers something to work with.

How to play Radiordle

  1. Accept the notice the first time you play.
  2. Study today's image; click it to zoom.
  3. Pick a diagnosis from the list and submit it.
  4. If you are wrong, use the feedback, including the close-guess message, to try again.
  5. Find the diagnosis within five guesses, then read about the condition.

Tips

  • Zoom in before your first guess; small findings matter.
  • A close-guess message means you are in the right area, so try related diagnoses.
  • Use the archive to practise on past cases without affecting your stats.
