Rabbit Hole

Rabbit Hole, daily Wikipedia racing: a rabbit leaping between Wikipedia pages

Rabbit Hole is a daily Wikipedia race. Everyone gets the same start and target articles each day, and you click from link to link inside Wikipedia until you land on the target, trying to use as few clicks as possible.

About Rabbit Hole

Rabbit Hole is a daily version of the wiki race, the old game of getting from one Wikipedia page to another using only the links in the articles. Each numbered puzzle gives you a start article and a target, for example from the economy of China to Johann Sebastian Bach, along with the target's one-line Wikipedia description.

The articles open inside the game. Links to other Wikipedia articles move you on, and a link straight to the target is marked so you do not miss it. You can step back if a path goes nowhere. When you arrive, the game counts your clicks and builds a share card that shows the path you took, with backtracks marked, plus a spoiler version that names every page on the way.

The pair changes at midnight on your device, and finishing on consecutive days builds a streak. Rabbit Hole is free, needs no account and has no ads. It suits players who like general knowledge and can think of the broad hub pages, such as countries, centuries and fields of study, that connect almost everything.

How to play Rabbit Hole

  1. Read the start article and the target named at the top.
  2. Click a link in the article to move to another Wikipedia page.
  3. Keep following links toward the target, using the back button if a path stalls.
  4. Land on the target article to finish.
  5. Share your click count and route.

Tips

  • Head for broad pages first: a country, a city, a century or a field of study links to most things.
  • Read the target's description and think about which big topics it belongs to.
  • Scan the opening paragraph and the infobox; the most useful links are often there.
