Quotes is a free daily who-said-it quiz from Mind Loft. Each day brings 25 multiple choice questions about famous lines, rising from easy to expert, with 20 seconds per question. One wrong answer or an empty clock ends the run, and your score is how many you cleared in a row.

About Quotes (Mind Loft)

Quotes is an attribution quiz on Mind Loft, a free site of daily browser games. Each day every player gets the same 25 questions in the same order. Each shows a famous line and four possible sources, and you pick who really said or wrote it.

The questions climb from lines almost anyone can place to ones very few can, in five rounds of five. Four lanes ask who said or wrote a line, covering presidents and politics, history and war, science and letters, and books and authors; the fifth asks which character speaks a line in a film or television show. The first question on the day we looked asked which president said in his 1981 inaugural address that government is not the solution but the problem.

Every line is one the named person is documented as having said or written. Where a well-known quotation is usually credited to the wrong person, the question asks for the person who actually wrote it, so popular misattributions are a trap rather than an answer.

There are 20 seconds per question and one life. A wrong answer or running out of time ends the run, and everything you cleared before it is banked. The leaderboard ranks the longest run, with ties broken on time. A new set goes up at midnight US Eastern Time. Mind Loft runs the same 25-question, one-life format on geography (Atlas), business (Biz), sport (Sport) and general trivia (Streak).

Tips

  • Watch for famous misattributions: the game asks for the documented source, not the person the line is usually credited to.
  • Dates and occasions in the question, such as an inaugural address, narrow the field quickly.
  • For screen lines, think of the character, not the actor.
  • Use the full 20 seconds on later questions; a fast wrong answer costs the whole run.
