About ODHALTO (Kvizky)

ODHALTO gives everyone the same partly blacked-out article each day, about an event or person remembered on that date. Punctuation and numbers, including years, stay visible, so you can see the shape of the sentences and the time frame. The most common words and the three longest words of the text are shown from the start, to give you something to hold on to.

You type one word at a time. If it is in the text, every occurrence is revealed. The game is forgiving about diacritics and word forms. Clicking a black block once shows how many letters the word has, and every ten wrong words earn a reveal, which you use by double-clicking a block.

Once half the text is uncovered you can end the game at any time; reaching 100 percent ends it automatically. The score is 10 points per percent revealed, minus 2 for each wrong word and 5 for each reveal used, plus a 50-point bonus for the full text, with a small deduction for time. The day's leaderboard ranks by score. A new text arrives at midnight, and a game started earlier can be finished later.

It suits Czech speakers who like history, trivia and the detective work of filling in a redacted page.

How to play ODHALTO (Kvizky)

1. Read the visible numbers, punctuation and words in the day's text.
2. Type a word you think appears; every occurrence is revealed.
3. Click a black block to see its length; double-click to use a reveal.
4. Uncover at least half the text, then end the game when you choose.
5. Reveal the whole text for a bonus and climb the daily leaderboard.

Tips

• Use the years and numbers to guess the topic early.
• Try common linking words in Czech first; they open up many gaps.
• Save reveals for long words that block the meaning.
