Hoří (Kvizky)
Find the Czech word of the day by how hot your guesses are.
Every day: One secret Czech word a day, the same for everyone; each guess gets a temperature by how close it is in meaning, from cold water up to 100 °C for the answer. New puzzle: Midnight.

Hoří is a daily Czech word game in the Semantle mould. You guess words, and each one is given a temperature by how close its meaning is to the secret word, from samá voda (cold water) up to hoří (it's burning) and 100 °C for the answer itself. A hint word unlocks before every tenth guess.
About Hoří (Kvizky)
Hoří takes its name from the Czech children's game of hot and cold: samá voda when you are far away, hoří when you are close. Each day there is one secret word, the same for everyone, and it is always a noun in its basic form.
You type words of your own, and the game measures the temperature of each one by semantic similarity, meaning how often words appear in similar contexts. The closer in meaning, the hotter, and the word of the day is 100 °C. Verbs and adjectives are allowed as guesses and often point the right way, in their basic forms, and the game copes with missing diacritics. It is meaning that counts, not spelling, so similar-sounding words can be surprisingly cold.
You have up to 100 guesses a day, and unknown words do not count. Before every tenth guess the game unlocks a clue, a word from near the answer, and the clues get warmer the longer you play. The daily leaderboard ranks players by fewest guesses, then by time. A game started before midnight can be finished and counts for that day.
It suits Czech speakers who enjoy Semantle and Contexto and like to think in associations.
