NameTen is a football recall quiz from MatchIQ. Each question has exactly ten hidden answers, such as the clubs with the most league titles, and you type them in any order while every wrong answer costs one of five lives. The daily board is the same for everyone with no clock, and a timed Rush mode is there for extra rounds.

About NameTen

NameTen is one of the quick football games on MatchIQ, a free site that turns the arguments fans have into scored challenges. Its format is a top ten with nothing shown: the question sits above ten empty slots, and you fill them from memory. Typical lists are clubs with the most league titles, players who have won the Ballon d'Or more than once, or the managers a club has been through.

You type answers one at a time in any order. A correct answer drops into its ranked place on the ladder and reveals the number behind it, so you also learn where it sits in the list. A wrong answer costs one of your five lives, and the round ends when the board is full or your lives are gone. Small typos in longer names are forgiven, and common short forms and nicknames are accepted.

The daily board is the same question for everyone and has no timer, so the leaderboard compares knowledge rather than typing speed. Every answer you find scores points, and each life you still have at the end adds more, so a full board with all five lives is a perfect score. Rush is the same game with a countdown, for when you want pressure instead.

MatchIQ also runs other daily football games on the same site, among them PriceTag for transfer fees, GroundIQ for stadiums, TimeLineup for ordering moments and TikiTaka for passing puzzles.

How to play NameTen

  1. Open NameTen and read the day's question above the ten empty slots.
  2. Type an answer you think is in the top ten and submit it.
  3. A correct answer locks into its ranked place; a wrong one costs one of your five lives.
  4. Keep going until the board is full or your lives run out, then compare your score on the daily leaderboard.

Tips

  • Bank the three or four obvious answers first: they cost nothing and narrow down the rest.
  • Look at which ranks are still empty: a gap at the top means a big name is missing, gaps at the bottom mean older or smaller answers.
  • When modern names run dry, walk through the decades: the 1970s and 1980s often hold the last answers.
  • Finishing with lives left adds points, so only guess when you are fairly sure.
