About Name the Wrestler (Wrestlingdata)
Name the Wrestler is a Wordle-style game that lives on Wrestlingdata.com, a long-running database of wrestling events, titles and wrestler profiles. The site calls it its answer to the Wordle sites, with a wrestler's name in place of a five-letter word.
Every day one wrestler is chosen, and the answer can be a wrestler of any gender. You type a name; only names of wrestlers who have a Wrestlingdata biography are accepted, so a guess has to be a real wrestler. Letters in the right place turn green, and letters that are in the name but somewhere else turn yellow. Names are written with letters, spaces and hyphens only, so A.J. Styles becomes AJ Styles and accents are dropped, and spaces may be left out.
You get ten tries. A first-try answer is worth 1,000 points, the second 900, and so on down by 100 a try, with a time bonus for finding the name inside ten minutes. Players who register get 1,000 extra points and see their own statistics and current winning streak; the game can be played without an account, but the browser has to accept cookies.
Under the game, an analysis box shows what share of the day's players found the wrestler and how many solved it in each round. It suits fans who know the roster well beyond the main promotions, since the answer can come from anywhere in the database. The site is free and carries ads, and it can also be read in German.
How to play Name the Wrestler (Wrestlingdata)
- Open Name the Wrestler on Wrestlingdata.com; your browser needs to accept cookies.

- Find the name early for more points (1,000 on the first try, 100 less each try after) and inside ten minutes for a time bonus.
Tips
- Write initials without dots: A.J. Styles is entered as AJ Styles.
- Leave accents off: Finn Bálor is entered as Finn Balor.
- An early guess with a long name and common letters tells you more about the answer's spelling than a short ring name.
- Register if you want your streak and statistics kept, and the 1,000 extra points registered players get.
