Wrestdle

The Wrestdle board: the WRESTDLE title above six empty guess rows under icons for name length, weight, height, age and hometown distance, with the Wrestler name box and Guess button

Wrestdle is a free daily guessing game about professional wrestling. Each day there is one hidden wrestler, and every name you guess is compared with it on name length, weight, height, age and distance from hometown. You have six guesses to land on the right one.

About Wrestdle

Wrestdle is a browser game that its own page calls a daily wrestling challenge: guess the wrestler in six attempts. It is a single plain page with a black background, the WRESTDLE title in white and red, and a grid of six empty rows waiting for your guesses. There is no account to make; your results are kept in the browser.

Every guess is a wrestler's name, picked from a list that drops down once you have typed three letters. The list runs to several hundred names across eras and promotions, from Bret Hart and Arn Anderson to Bianca Belair, Adam Cole and Aja Kong. When you submit a name, five boxes fill in beside it: name length, weight, height, age and distance between the two wrestlers' hometowns. Arrows show whether the hidden wrestler's value is larger or smaller, a tick marks a match, and the colour runs from green when you are close to red when you are far off.

The hidden wrestler is the same for everyone and changes once a day. After the round the page shows today's wrestler with their stats, and you can copy a result line headed with the day number, a row of squares for each guess, or post it to Twitter. A stats panel counts wins, games played, win rate, streak and how many guesses each win took. A settings panel switches the units between metric and imperial.

It suits wrestling fans who know their rosters by size and background as much as by name. Because the clues are numbers rather than promotions or titles, the game rewards knowing how big a wrestler is and where they come from, and the distance column lets you close in on a region in two or three guesses.

How to play Wrestdle

  1. Open Wrestdle; the six empty rows are your six guesses for the day.
  2. Type at least three letters of a wrestler's name and pick the name from the list.
  3. Press Guess and read the five boxes: name length, weight, height, age and distance from hometown.
  4. Follow the arrows and colours: an up arrow means the hidden wrestler's value is larger, a down arrow smaller, green means close and red means far.
  5. Narrow down with each guess until you find the wrestler, or see the answer after the sixth miss, then share your result.

Tips

  • Open with a wrestler of middling height and weight so the arrows split the field in both directions.
  • The distance box gives kilometres or miles, not a direction, so pick the next guess from somewhere else entirely to triangulate.
  • Age counts from the year of birth, which separates eras quickly: a big age gap rules out a whole generation of rosters.
  • Name length counts the ring name as listed, so it can settle a choice between two wrestlers of the same size.
  • Switch to imperial in settings if you know wrestlers by their billed pounds and feet.
