A letter board in the game's style spelling I WOULD LIKE TO SOLVE in white letters on blue squares

I Would Like to Solve is a daily phrase puzzle in the spirit of a game-show letter board. You get one hint, a few revealed letters and blank squares to fill, and only one guess. Valid answers that are not the intended one compete on a Top wrong answers leaderboard.

About I Would Like to Solve

I Would Like to Solve takes its name from the line contestants say on letter-board quiz shows. Each day there is one puzzle: a short phrase laid out on a grid of blue squares, with a single hint and a few letters already shown.

You type letters into the blank squares to complete the phrase, then submit. There is only one guess. The revealed letters are a trap as well as a help: some appear in the answer and some may not, and a revealed letter cannot be used again in the blanks. Answers must be real, non-obscene English words to count on your profile and the leaderboards; anything else can only be sent privately.

There is one intended solution, but many phrases can fit, and the game leans into that. Every valid alternative gets an entry on the day's Top wrong answers board, where players with accounts can upvote the ones they like after submitting their own. So you can aim for the right answer or for the funniest one.

An optional account (set up with a phone number) keeps your history of past puzzles and lets you add friends and see their solutions once you have submitted yours. It suits word-game players who enjoy a bit of wit as much as getting it right.

How to play I Would Like to Solve

  1. Read the hint and look at the letters already revealed.
  2. Type letters into the blank blue squares to complete the phrase.
  3. Do not reuse any pre-revealed letter in the blanks.
  4. Submit your one guess when every square is filled.
  5. See whether you matched the intended answer, and vote on the Top wrong answers.

Tips

  • Work out the word lengths first; short words like THE, AND or OF often fall into place quickly.
  • Remember that some revealed letters may not be in the answer at all.
  • If the intended answer escapes you, a clever valid alternative can still climb the wrong-answers leaderboard.
