About FoxiMax

FoxiMax starts with a row of blank squares. You pick letters from the keyboard; correct ones appear in place, and wrong ones add another hidden word to solve alongside the first. The game is to clear all the words before you make eight mistakes, and your score is how few words you needed.

The daily game is chosen by day number, so everyone plays the same words, and a countdown shows the time to the next one. By default the day turns over at midnight UTC, with an option to use your local midnight instead. Settings include dark mode, high-contrast colours, confirming letter choices, a free letter to start, hints, one undo per game and showing all words at the end.

Training mode plays random sets of words, and Share lets you send a game to friends. The game is by Udsholt and Clayton, with Max the fox as mascot. It suits players who like hangman and Wordle but want a different kind of pressure.

How to play FoxiMax

1. Open the Daily game and look at the blank squares of the hidden word.
2. Guess a letter from the keyboard.
3. Correct letters fill in; a wrong letter adds a new hidden word to the board.
4. Reveal all words before you make eight wrong guesses.
5. Finish with as few words as possible and share your result.

Tips

• Open with common letters such as E, A, R and S; they appear in most words.
• Remember a wrong letter is wrong for every word on the board, which helps narrow the new ones.
• Turn on Confirm letter choices if you tend to mistap.
• Use Training mode to practise letter order without risking your streak.
