Letteripher
Guess letters to uncover six themed words and the scrambled theme.
Every day: One numbered puzzle a day, the same for everyone: six themed words hidden in a grid and the theme itself scrambled, revealed by guessing letters with five lives. New puzzle: Midnight UTC.

Letteripher hides six words on a theme in a grid, with the theme's name shown scrambled. You guess letters one at a time; each right letter appears wherever it is used, a wrong one costs one of your five lives, and hidden bonus squares can give extra lives or reveal letters. Solve all six words, and the theme, against the clock.
About Letteripher
Letteripher is a free browser word game that mixes hangman with a small crossword-like grid. Each day's numbered puzzle hides six words that share a theme, laid out across a grid of blank tiles, and the theme's name sits underneath with its letters shuffled. The site is made by Christian Emilsson and is supported by an optional Buy Me a Coffee link.
A day's game goes letter by letter. You tap a letter on the keyboard; if it appears anywhere in the grid, every copy of it turns over, and if it does not, you lose one of your five lives. Some squares hide bonuses that give back a life or reveal a letter for free when they are uncovered. A clock runs while you play, and the score counter tracks how many of the six words you have fully revealed.
What sets it apart from plain hangman is that the words help each other: once you have a few letters showing, the shapes of the words and the scrambled theme start to suggest the rest, so a good guess can open several words at once. The daily puzzles are written around themes (early October 2026 had a pumpkin patch set, for example), and the same grid is served to everyone on the same date.
It suits players who like Wordle-length games with a bit more guessing strategy, and anyone who enjoys themed word lists. A Random mode offers extra puzzles once the daily one is done, and the stats page keeps your streak and averages in the browser.
How to play Letteripher
- Open letteripher.com and pick DAILY to load the day's numbered puzzle.
- Tap a letter on the on-screen keyboard to guess it; every matching tile in the grid turns over.
- Watch your lives: each letter that is not in any of the six words costs one of five.
- Use the revealed letters and the scrambled theme under the grid to work out whole words.
- Keep going until all six words are revealed or you run out of lives, then check your score, time and stats.
Tips
- Start with common vowels and letters like E, A, R, S and T: they tend to appear in several of the six words at once.
- Unscramble the theme early; knowing the topic narrows each word down quickly.
- Hidden bonus squares can return a life, so uncovering letters across the whole grid (not just one word) can pay off.
