FLÄTPÄCK

Program a robot through the day's flat-pack furniture store in as few commands as you can.

Every day: One numbered programming puzzle a day: a furniture showroom built from the date, with the same layout, shopping list and starting tile for everyone, and a global daily leaderboard. New puzzle: Once a day (the exact time is not stated).

FLÄTPÄCK Daily Puzzle #168: the store map with the robot in a corner, shelves and four furniture items, beside the robot programming blocks and the shopping list

FLÄTPÄCK is a daily programming puzzle on itch.io. You do not steer the robot; you stack movement blocks into a program, press Run and watch it collect every item on the shopping list before reaching the checkout. Everyone gets the same showroom each day, and the fewest commands tops the daily leaderboard.

About FLÄTPÄCK

FLÄTPÄCK, by APN201, is a small browser puzzle built around a joke everyone recognises: a self-assembly furniture store with arrows on the floor and only one way out, past the checkout. Your job is to send a robot through it. Instead of moving the robot yourself, you write its instructions from a handful of blocks: Forward, Go to wall, Left, Right and Loop.

Each day's showroom is generated from the date, so every player on the planet gets the same store, the same shopping list and the same starting tile. The header shows the puzzle number and date (Daily Puzzle #168 in one screenshot). Running a program is free and unlimited, so you can test and adjust as often as you like before you submit to the global daily leaderboard. Fewer commands wins, and the number of steps breaks ties.

Go to wall sends the robot straight across an aisle until it meets a shelf, and loops repeat a sequence, so a tidy program is much shorter than a list of single steps. A practice mode builds random stores when you want to warm up, and a Hall of Fame tab sits beside the daily board.

The game runs in the browser on desktop and phone, needs no account, and shows no ads. It is free, with a tip jar. It suits players who like short logic puzzles with a score to beat, and anyone who has enjoyed coding puzzles where the challenge is the shortest program rather than just a working one.

How to play FLÄTPÄCK

  1. Open the game on itch.io; the Play tab loads today's store.
  2. Read the shopping list and find each item and the checkout on the map.
  3. Add blocks (Forward, Go to wall, Left, Right, Loop) to build the robot's program.
  4. Press Run and watch the robot; Reset and adjust as often as you need.
  5. When it collects everything and reaches the checkout, submit to the daily leaderboard and share your result.

Tips

  • Use Go to wall wherever a shelf or the outer wall can stop the robot for you; it replaces several Forward blocks.
  • Look for a repeated pattern in your route and wrap it in a Loop.
  • Plan the order of the items before you add any blocks; a different order can save many commands.
  • Warm up with a Random Store in practice mode before the daily.
