Farout

Name something that fits the prompt, and the rarer your answer, the deeper you dive.

Every day: Seven prompts a day, the same seven for everyone, twenty seconds and one answer each. Any valid answer scores, but the fewer players who thought of yours, the deeper your dive. New puzzle: Once a day (the listing does not state the time).

A Farout prompt, Name a dish from a national cuisine, with a countdown timer and an answer being typed

Farout is a daily trivia game for iPhone where being right is not enough. Each day brings seven open prompts, the same for everyone, such as naming a dish from a national cuisine; every valid answer scores, but a common one keeps you near the surface while an answer few others gave sends you hundreds of metres down.

About Farout

Farout turns trivia upside down. Instead of one right answer, each prompt has many: name a dish from a national cuisine, an animal, a country, a film, a person from history. You have twenty seconds and one answer, with no take-backs. Any answer that fits scores, but the game measures how many other players gave the same one. Pizza barely ripples the surface; nasi ulam, which few people think of, drops you far deeper.

The day is seven prompts, the same seven for everyone, so everyone has the same chance at the same questions. Your depth adds up across the dive, and reaching 700 points takes you to the bottom of the trench. After each answer the game shows its estimated popularity, your points and a short note about the thing you named.

You can share your depth with friends and compare the answers you each missed. The app keeps your streak, deepest dive, rarest answer and how you do across categories.

Farout is made by Code Stellar LLC and came out in September 2026. The daily dive is free. An optional auto-renewing Farout Unlimited subscription adds unlimited dives, the full archive of past dives and detailed stats.

Tips

  • The obvious answer is safe but shallow; the second or third thing that comes to mind usually scores more.
  • Draw on a hobby or a place you know well: specialist knowledge is where rare answers come from.
  • Make sure your answer really fits the prompt's rule; a rare answer only counts if it is valid.
  • Twenty seconds is short, so settle on your answer before you start typing.
