Elementle is a daily guessing game for the periodic table. You name an element and each property, such as period, group, block, state at room temperature and family, is coloured to show how it compares with the mystery element, with arrows for the atomic number. You have eight tries.

About Elementle

Elementle asks you to find one mystery element each day, the same for everyone. In the classic mode you type an element's name and the game compares it with the answer on several properties: period, group, block, state, chemical family and when it was discovered. Clue colours show which match, and arrows on the atomic number tell you to go higher or lower. You have eight tries.

There are other ways to play the day. Hard mode keeps the eight tries but drops the atomic number clues. A clue mode starts with two broad hints and reveals one more after each wrong answer, moving from what the element is not to exact details like its symbol, over ten guesses. A recall mode has you pick a period or group and name every element in it before ten mistakes.

A new puzzle arrives at midnight UTC, and the game keeps a visit streak and lets you challenge friends with a link to the same puzzle. It suits students revising chemistry and anyone who likes attribute games such as Poeltl or Spotle.

How to play Elementle

  1. Open Elementle and type the name of any element.
  2. Read the colours on period, group, block, state, family and discovery.
  3. Use the atomic number arrow to go higher or lower.
  4. Find the element within eight tries, then try Hard mode or the other modes.

Tips

  • Start with an element in the middle of the table, such as iron, to split period and group at once.
  • State at room temperature narrows it fast: only a few elements are liquid.
  • Group and period together pin down a single element, so solve one, then the other.
