EdgeWords is a free daily word game for iPhone and Android in the style of Letter Boxed. Every day it gives you four shapes with letters on their sides, and you chain words from them, each starting with the last letter of the one before, until every letter is used. Hitting par, the fewest words possible, earns the best score.
About EdgeWords
EdgeWords came out on the App Store in January 2026 and is also on Google Play. It is free, with no ads, and gives every player the same four puzzles each day, with streaks, stats, badges, private groups and global rankings.
Each puzzle is a shape with letters along its edges, and each shape is a level of difficulty: Tripp the Triangle with 9 letters is easy, Cubert the Square with 12 is medium, Penny the Pentagon with 15 is hard and Hex the Hexagon with 18 is expert. You spell a word by tapping letters, but two letters in a row may not come from the same side. The next word must begin with the last letter of the word before, and the puzzle is solved when every letter on the shape has been used at least once.
Any chain that uses every letter solves the puzzle, but each one has a par, the smallest number of words that can do it, and matching par gives the best score. In groups you can compare your chain with your friends' solutions and see who solved the hexagon fastest.
It suits players of the New York Times' Letter Boxed who want more of it each day, at four levels from a quick triangle to a long hexagon.
How to play EdgeWords
- Open EdgeWords and pick one of the day's four shapes.
- Tap letters to spell a word, never taking two letters in a row from the same side.
- Confirm the word; the next one must start with its last letter.
- Keep chaining words until every letter on the shape has been used.
- Try to finish in par, the fewest words possible, then move on to the next shape.

Tips
- Look for long words that use letters from many sides: they cover more of the shape at once.
- Plan where a word ends: a last letter that starts many words leaves you more choices.
- Rare letters are easiest to use early, before your chain has to end on the right one.
- Start with the triangle to warm up before the hexagon.
