Every day: One numbered quote a day, the same for every player in the world, with one official attempt scored in words per minute and accuracy and ranked as a percentile against others on the same kind of device. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone.

DailyType is a free daily typing sprint. Everyone gets the same short quote each day and one official attempt to type it, scored in words per minute and accuracy and ranked against the day's other players. After that you can practise as much as you like.
About DailyType
DailyType takes the typing test and makes it a once-a-day game. Each day has one numbered quote, the same for every player in the world, and your first run is the one that counts. The site needs no account and shows no ads; your streak and history are kept in your browser.
The timer starts with your first keystroke and stops on the last character. A wrong key does not move the cursor, so the finished text is always correct, and mistakes cost time and accuracy instead. Speed is worked out the standard way, characters divided by five per minute, and accuracy is the quote's length divided by the keys you pressed. A strict mode moves the cursor only on the correct key.
Your result is ranked as a percentile among the day's players, with phones and physical keyboards in separate leaderboards so neither is measured against the other. You can share the result, and practice runs after the official one are not ranked.
It suits anyone who types every day and wants a short daily test of speed and care, over in less than a minute.
How to play DailyType
- Open the site and press Start today's sprint.
- Start typing the quote; the timer begins with your first key.
- Fix nothing by hand: a wrong key simply does not move the cursor, so press the right one.
- Finish the last character to stop the timer and see your WPM, accuracy and percentile.
- Share your result, then practise as much as you like; only the first run is ranked.
Tips
- Read the whole quote before your first key: the timer has not started yet.
- Aim for accuracy first; every wrong key costs time and lowers your accuracy score.
- Watch the punctuation and capitals at the end of the quote, where most slips happen.
- Play on the same kind of device each day so your percentile compares like with like.
