A solved Galaxies grid divided into symmetric regions, each with one white circle

The Special Daily Galaxies on puzzle-galaxies.com is one large Galaxies puzzle a day, the same for everyone. You divide the grid into regions that each contain exactly one white circle, with every region looking the same after a half turn around its circle.

About Daily Galaxies

Galaxies, also known as Spiral Galaxies or Tentai Show, scatters white circles across a grid, some in the middle of a cell, some on an edge or a corner between cells. You draw walls along the grid lines to split it into regions, the galaxies. Each galaxy holds exactly one circle, and that circle is its centre of rotation: turn the galaxy 180 degrees around the circle and you get the same shape in the same place.

Puzzle-galaxies.com has Normal and Hard grids from 5x5 to 15x15, plus Special Daily, Weekly and Monthly puzzles. The daily is one dated grid for every player and runs larger than the regular list; the 2 October 2026 puzzle was 20 by 20. You click between dots to draw a wall, right-click to mark a gap with an X, and Shift-click to colour a square, which helps keep track of which galaxy a cell belongs to. The site shows ads, and patrons can remove them and reopen the last 30 dailies.

Galaxies is a good choice for players who think visually: the symmetry rule means each cell you assign has a mirror cell on the other side of its circle. It suits fans of Shikaku who want regions that are not just rectangles.

How to play Daily Galaxies

  1. Open puzzle-galaxies.com and choose Special Daily Galaxies.
  2. Find the circles: each one will be the centre of exactly one galaxy.
  3. Left-click between two dots to draw a wall; right-click to mark a line that stays open with an X.
  4. Shape each galaxy so it looks the same after a half turn around its circle, and so every cell belongs to one galaxy.
  5. Shift-click squares to colour them if it helps, and press Done (or Enter) when the grid is split.

Tips

  • A circle on the line between two cells means both cells belong to its galaxy; a circle on a corner claims all four cells around it.
  • Whenever you assign a cell to a galaxy, its mirror cell through the circle joins the same galaxy, so work in pairs.
  • Draw walls between neighbouring cells that you know belong to different circles; they quickly close off small galaxies.
  • A cell that only one circle can reach symmetrically must belong to that circle, even when it is far away.

Questions

What does the symmetry rule mean?

If you rotate a galaxy half a turn around its circle, it must land on exactly the same cells. Each cell in a galaxy has a partner cell on the opposite side of the circle.

When does the daily Galaxies puzzle change?

At midnight UTC. The daily is dated by the site's clock, which runs on UTC.

Is there an app?

The site links to PuzzleGym for iPhone and Android, which includes Galaxies with daily, weekly and monthly specials.
