A finished Spiral Galaxy from PuzzleMadness's rules, the grid split into coloured galaxies that are each symmetric around a white dot

PuzzleMadness posts a new Spiral Galaxy puzzle every day, the same grid for every player, at several sizes. Divide the grid into regions that each contain one dot and look the same when turned half a turn around it. Finished puzzles score points on the site's monthly and all-time leaderboards.

About Spiral Galaxy (PuzzleMadness)

Spiral Galaxy, also called Galaxies or Tentai Show, gives you a grid with dots on it. Each dot is the centre of a galaxy, and you divide the whole grid into galaxies, one per dot, so that each looks the same when rotated 180 degrees about its dot. Every square belongs to exactly one galaxy.

The daily page opens today's puzzle on its own, and its title carries the date (on 3 October 2026 it read "Daily Medium Spiral Galaxy Puzzle for Saturday 3rd October 2026"). There is a separate dated puzzle for each size: Small, Medium, Large and Mixed. Past days stay in the archive, so a missed puzzle can be played later, and there is a print version and an image download of the grid. PuzzleMadness does not publish solutions: the site tells you when you have finished a grid correctly or made a mistake. Each completed puzzle adds to your total on the Spiral Galaxy monthly and all-time leaderboards, where only your best score on any one puzzle counts.

Begin with each dot's core: a dot on a line between two squares claims both, and a dot on a corner claims all four. From there, every square you add to a galaxy brings its mirror image on the other side of the dot, so growth comes in pairs. Squares far from any other dot often have only one galaxy that can reach them symmetrically.

PuzzleMadness is a British puzzle site with dozens of daily puzzle types in the browser, from many sudoku variants to logic grids such as Nurikabe, Hashi and Slitherlink. It is free to play and carries ads. A free account keeps track of the puzzles you have finished and puts your name on the leaderboards, and the badges next to usernames mark how many puzzles a player has completed.

How to play Spiral Galaxy (PuzzleMadness)

  1. Open the day's Spiral Galaxy page and choose Small, Medium, Large or Mixed.
  2. Mark the squares each dot sits on or between as part of its galaxy.
  3. Add squares to galaxies in mirrored pairs around their centre dots.
  4. Assign every square to one symmetric galaxy; the site marks the grid complete.

Tips

  • When you add a square to a galaxy, add its mirror at once.
  • A square whose mirror would fall off the grid or into another galaxy cannot join that galaxy.
  • Fill the regions between close dots first; they have fewest options.
