The DABL start page for October 6, 2026: the day's point values from 5 down to 1 for each letter, a Select Your Game Mode button and a Begin button

DABL is a daily word game on PZLR by Rob and J. Every letter of the alphabet gets a value from 1 to 5 for the day, and you write five five-letter words, each using one given letter. Go high and score 95 or more, or go low and stay at 55 or under.

About DABL (PZLR)

DABL, pronounced dabble, stands for Drawing A Blank. It is one of the daily word games on PZLR, a small site designed and built by two people who sign as Rob and J, and it has been running since 2023.

Each day the game shuffles point values across the alphabet, giving every letter a value between 1 and 5, and picks five letters, one for each word you must write. Each word has five slots: four blanks and the given letter. You fill the blanks to make a valid five-letter word, and the word is scored by adding up its letters. Before you begin you choose a mode: go high and win with a total of 95 or more, or go low and win with 55 or less.

Everyone gets the same given letters and the same point values, shown on the dated start page. A DABL and Chill setting removes the win calculation and win stats for a more relaxed game, and you can log in to keep your results.

How to play DABL (PZLR)

  1. Open today's DABL and look at the point values for each letter.
  2. Choose your game mode: high or low.
  3. For each of the five rows, fill the four blanks around the given letter to make a five-letter word.
  4. Use high-value letters when going high and low-value letters when going low.
  5. Finish all five words: 95 or more wins high, 55 or less wins low.

Tips

  • Check where the given letter sits in each row before thinking of words.
  • Five-point letters repeated in one word add up fast when going high.
  • For a low game, words full of the day's one-point letters are the safest.
