Crossle

Crossle #74 board with empty crossing word tracks, Hint and Submit Board buttons and an on-screen keyboard

Crossle is a daily word puzzle where three words cross at one shared starting letter. You fill all three tracks and submit the board, getting colour feedback like Wordle, and you have six submissions to get every word. A co-op mode lets two people solve the same board together in real time.

About Crossle

Crossle builds one puzzle a day from a seed made of the UTC date, so every player gets the same board, numbered from the game's first day. The board shows three tracks of empty squares that meet at a single anchor square: all three words start with that same letter, and they have different lengths.

You type into each track and press Submit Board. Each submission uses one of your six attempts, even if some tracks are still empty, and the cells are coloured to show which letters are right and which are in the word but misplaced. A hint button reveals a clue for the word you are focused on, and there is an easier option if the puzzle is too hard.

Co-op mode is the unusual part: two players can share one board in real time, with one taking the first track and the other the remaining two, and the anchor letter and typing synced live. It is free and needs no account. It suits Wordle players who want a puzzle with more than one word to juggle.

How to play Crossle

  1. Look at the three tracks; they all start from the same anchor square.
  2. Type a word into each track, working out the shared first letter as you go.
  3. Press Submit Board to check all three; this uses one of your six attempts.
  4. Use the colour feedback to fix letters, and the Hint button for a clue to the focused word.
  5. Find all three words within six submissions, alone or with a friend in Co-Op.

Tips

  • Settle the anchor letter first; once it is right, it is right in all three words.
  • Fill every track before submitting, since an empty track still costs an attempt.
  • Use your first submission to test common letters across all three words at once.
  • In co-op, split the work by track and talk through the shared first letter.
