Check board on mindloftdaily.com: a checkers position with two red kings and a black king, with the note your move, 3 left to clear 2

Check is a free daily checkers puzzle from Mind Loft. Each board gives red a forced sweep: capture every black piece within three moves. Captures are compulsory, so black never chooses a reply, and only one first move works.

About Check (Mind Loft)

Check is the checkers puzzle in Mind Loft's End Game set. You play red, and the board is set up so that red can take every black piece inside a fixed number of moves, three on weekdays and four on Sundays. A line under the board counts down how many moves are left and how many pieces remain to clear.

The puzzle depends on the compulsory capture rule. Because black must take whenever it can, black's replies are forced, and that is what lets a sweep be planned in advance. Tap a red piece and its legal squares light up, so you do not need to know any notation. There is no take-back, and exactly one first move leads to the full sweep.

Mind Loft checks every board twice, with the engine in the game and with a second, separately written solver, to make sure the sweep exists, takes exactly the stated number of moves and has a single working first move. A new board comes out every day at midnight Eastern, with a hint button, Give up and Restart if you need them.

How to play Check (Mind Loft)

  1. Open Check and press Start to see the board.
  2. Tap a red piece; its legal squares light up.
  3. Tap a square to move; black replies automatically, and captures are compulsory for both sides.
  4. Take every black piece within the stated number of moves; there is no take-back.

Tips

  • Look for a sacrifice: giving black a forced capture often lines up a multi-jump for you.
  • Count black's forced replies before moving, since black has no choice when a capture is available.
  • Kings move both ways, so check backward jumps too.

Questions

Why does black never get to choose in Check?
