Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction daily puzzle #3, first course clue about a bagel chain with a guess box

Chain Reaction is a daily trivia game from Chainivore about restaurant chains. Each puzzle reveals one chain clue by clue, from the year it opened to its logo, and you score more stars the fewer clues you need. Puzzles are numbered and the same for everyone on a given date.

About Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction is a small browser game made by Chainivore, a site about restaurant chains. Each day has one mystery chain, which can be any regional or national restaurant with five or more locations, and five clues that come out one at a time. The first clue ties the founding year to other events of that year, the second says where it started, the third shows part of the logo or a hint, the fourth gives the slogan, and the last shows the full logo or a closing fact.

You guess by typing and picking a name from the dropdown list, so spelling is forgiving. A wrong guess or a skip reveals the next clue. Solving on the first clue earns five stars, on the fifth one star. After the game you get a few facts about the chain and a share line with the puzzle number and your streak.

Puzzles are stored by date and numbered; number 142 was Swig on 28 September 2026. The run has skipped the odd day, and when there is no puzzle for the date the page shows an error instead. It suits people who know their fast food, coffee and casual dining chains, especially in the United States.

How to play Chain Reaction

  1. Read the first clue, which places the chain's opening year among other events.
  2. Type a chain name and choose it from the dropdown to guess.
  3. If you are wrong or press Skip, the next clue appears: home town, logo glimpse, slogan, then the full logo or a final fact.
  4. Solve it in as few clues as you can; each clue costs one star.
  5. Read the facts about the chain and copy your result to share.

Tips

  • Work out the founding decade from the first clue; it rules out most of the older or newer chains.
  • The home-state clue often narrows it to a few regional names.
  • Slogans are a strong tell, so if you reach clue four, think of taglines you have heard in ads.
  • Picking from the list means typos do not matter, so try partial names to browse candidates.
