WordPivot
Build a column word through each letter of the day's Pivot Word without repeating letters across columns.
Every day: One Pivot Word a day from a dated list, the same for all players: build a word through each of its letters, with daily and all-time leaderboards of scores. New puzzle: Midnight.

WordPivot is a daily word-building puzzle. The day's Pivot Word runs across the board, and you write a vertical word through each of its letters, avoiding the same letter in the same row of two columns. Letters carry point values, row words add multipliers, and daily leaderboards rank the highest and lowest scores.
About WordPivot
WordPivot is a free browser word game with a new Pivot Word at midnight, picked from a dated list so everyone plays the same board. The page shows the word laid out across the grid, and the rest of the board is empty.
You fill in a valid word in each column, crossing the Pivot Word at that column's letter. The catch is that no two columns may have the same letter in the same position: a column turns green when its word is valid with no clashes, and red when a letter repeats in the same spot as another column. Rows do not have to form words, and you win by turning the whole board green.
Score comes from letter values (from 1 point for common letters up to 10 for Q and Z). Words that happen to form across a row with three or more letters count too, and each valid row word raises your multiplier by one and gives its letters a green halo. When you submit, your board and score can go on today's leaderboard, which you can sort by highest or lowest, along with all-time boards; you can also share a link to your finished grid.
It suits players who like Scrabble-style scoring and open-ended word building more than single-answer puzzles. There is no account; streaks are kept in the browser.
How to play WordPivot
- Open wordpivot.com to see today's Pivot Word across the board.
- Type a word into each column so it passes through that column's Pivot Word letter.
- Avoid putting the same letter in the same row position in two columns; clashing letters turn red.
- Turn every column green, and try to form row words for extra multipliers.
- Submit your board to post your score and compare on the leaderboard.
Tips
- Use high-value letters like J, X, Q and Z where they fit; they are worth 8 to 10 points each.
- Plan rows early: every row word of three or more letters adds one to your multiplier.
- Fill the columns with the hardest Pivot letters first, then fit the easier ones around them.
