Slideways is a daily word puzzle from Ponder Club. The board holds several vertical words side by side. You drag each column up or down, or tap a letter, to bring letters into a highlighted row, and try to spell valid words across it. There are hint and shuffle buttons, and a new board every day.
About Slideways
Slideways is a free daily word game from Ponder Club. Each day presents one board, the same for every player, made of several words standing vertically next to one another.
Across the middle runs a highlighted row. You drag any word column up or down, or tap one of its letters, to move that letter into the highlighted row. By choosing which letter of each column sits in the row, you spell a new word across it, then press Check to submit it. A progress bar shows how far through the day's words you are.
Hint and Shuffle buttons help when you are stuck, and a dated archive and leaderboard sit alongside the daily board. This is the newer version of Slideways; the original, where you drag words sideways instead, is still on the site for now. Ponder Club says all of its games are free with no paywalls or subscriptions.
It suits players who like word puzzles with a sliding, spatial twist.
How to play Slideways
- Look at the word columns standing side by side.
- Drag a column up or down, or tap a letter, to move it into the highlighted row.
- Set one letter from each column in the row so it spells a word across.
- Press Check to submit the word.
- Keep finding words to fill the progress bar.
Tips
- Start with columns that contain common letters like vowels and S.
- Read across the highlighted row after each move: a word may already be close.
- Use Shuffle for a fresh view when you are stuck.
