About Wordle (Сахалыы)

This Wordle is played in Sakha, the language of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in north-eastern Siberia, written in Cyrillic with five extra letters: ҕ, ҥ, ө, һ and ү. Its players share results under the tag #буордулу, the game's name spelled the Sakha way, and the interface, from the rules to the countdown to the next word, is in Sakha.

Play follows Wordle. You type a five-letter Sakha word and submit it, and the tiles turn green when a letter is in the right place, yellow when it is in the word but elsewhere, and grey when it is not in the word. Sakha has long vowels written double, such as ыы and аа, so repeated letters come up more often than in English. A dark mode is in the settings, and a form lets players send ideas to the makers.

The answer is picked by counting days from 1 January 2022, so everyone gets the same word on the same date, and the next one comes at midnight in your own time zone. It runs in the browser with no account.

How to play Wordle (Сахалыы)

1. Open the game and type a five-letter Sakha word on the on-screen keyboard.
2. Submit it with the key at the bottom right.
3. Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, grey is not in the word.
4. Use those clues in your next guess.
5. Find the word in six tries or fewer and share it with #буордулу.

Tips

• Sakha writes long vowels double, so try a doubled ыы, аа or уу when the vowels will not fit.
• The Sakha letters ҕ, ҥ, ө, һ and ү are separate from г, н, о, х and у.
• Vowel harmony means the vowels of a Sakha word usually match in kind; a front vowel in one place suggests front vowels elsewhere.
