Wick
Find the day's secret word by meaning, warming from icy blue to red-hot.
Every day: One secret word a day, the same for everyone: guess by meaning, with each guess scored from icy blue to red-hot as you close in. New puzzle: Once a day (the listing does not state the time).

Wick is a daily guess-by-meaning word game for iPhone. Everyone gets the same secret word each day; every guess is scored by how close it is in meaning, and you can ask Wick, the keeper of the word, yes-or-no questions. It plays in English, Spanish, French, Italian and German.
About Wick
Wick is in the family of Semantle and Contexto: the secret word is found by meaning, not spelling. You type any word and Wick ranks how close it is. Cold guesses stay icy blue, and the colour and the whole screen warm toward red as you get nearer. Each guess also tells you whether it beat your best so far, and the list of your round keeps them in order so you can see which direction is paying off.
There is one secret word a day, the same for everyone. When you are stuck you can add a question mark to put a question to Wick, the flame-shaped keeper: is it alive, is it bigger than a car. He answers honestly, remembers what you asked and never gives the word away. Asking is free; hints cost coins. When you solve it, you can share your result.
The daily runs entirely on the phone, so it works offline, and nothing typed into it leaves the device. A Learn mode shows each guess translated into another of the five languages, which turns the daily into a small vocabulary lesson. Outside the daily there is an archive of missed puzzles, a practice mode and live duels with friends by code, which do need a connection.
Wick is made by Jason Evan Page and came out in June 2026. It is free with no account, no ads and no tracking. Coins buy extra hints and cosmetic outfits for Wick; the daily puzzle is always free.

Tips
- Start with broad words from different areas (an animal, a place, a feeling) to find which one is warm.
- Once something is warm, try close neighbours of it rather than jumping far away.
- Ask Wick sorting questions such as whether it is alive or made by people; they are free.
- Forms of a word count alike, so running and run score the same; do not spend guesses on variants.
