Dartwords is a daily word game from The Game Band, the studio behind Blaseball. Type any word and Darty, a cheerful mascot, answers with a conversational hint while a dart lands nearer the bullseye the closer you are; you have ten guesses to find the secret word.

About Dartwords

Dartwords launched on the web in August 2026 from The Game Band, the studio known for Blaseball. Its creative director has said the idea came from guessing games families play on road trips, such as Twenty Questions, which rarely make it into digital form.

There is one secret word each day. You start with no clues at all and can type any English word. Instead of coloured tiles, Darty replies in plain language: if you guess an animal, Darty might say the answer is larger, man-made or in another category entirely. Each guess also throws a dart at a target, landing closer to the centre the nearer your word is to the answer. Early hints are broad and the later ones are written by hand to be precise, and you have ten guesses in all.

Everybody plays the same word on the same day, and the game offers daily reminders to keep you coming back. It is free to play, with a tip jar for support.

It suits players who like Contexto or Semantle but want hints that read like a friend nudging them along.

Tips

  • Start broad (an animal, an object, a place) to learn the category.
  • Watch the dart: the closer to the centre, the closer your guess.
  • Treat Darty's hints like Twenty Questions answers and change one idea at a time.
